The name of the association is "International Society for Energy Geostructures", and it is a non-profit international organization. The abbreviation is ISEG. The Statutes and any interpretation thereof shall be governed by the law of the country within which the official headquarters of the international society reside. Throughout these Statutes, the abbreviations "ISEG" or "International Society" are used.
The purpose of the ISEG is to promote and facilitate international collaboration in the field of shallow geothermal energy in the form of energy geostructures. The main objectives of the Association include:
The official language of the International Society is English. All communications from the Secretariat shall be in English. The language for international events shall be English, while other languages may be adopted for national or local events.
Membership of the International Society shall consist of Individual or Associate Members who share the goals in Article 2 and pay fees to the ISEG.
Individual Members are individuals that contribute to the advancement of the International Society's objectives and have the right to vote at the General Assembly.
Associate Members are associations, companies, and other collective bodies that support the activities of the International Society but do not have voting rights.
Members shall be admitted upon approval of their application, in accordance with the procedures set by the Executive Board. All members must pay an annual membership fee, the amount of which is determined by the Executive Board.
The General Assembly consists of all Individual and Associate Members of the International Society. The General Assembly shall meet at least once a year, and extraordinary meetings may be called by the Executive Board or upon request of at least one-third of the Individual Members.
A quorum for the General Assembly shall be a majority of Individual Members. Decisions shall be made by a majority vote of those present, unless otherwise specified in these Statutes. The General Assembly duties shall include:
The Executive Board shall consist of 6 to 15 members, elected by the General Assembly for a term of four years, including the President, the Vice President and the Secretary General.

To ensure continuity and institutional memory, the election of Executive Board members shall be conducted in two phases: approximately 50% of the Board shall be elected every two years, with each member serving a full term of four years.

Officers shall be elected by the General Assembly for a term of four years and can be re-elected. Any Executive Board member may be appointed for other offices to carry specific responsibilities upon need and within the term of office.
The Advisory Committee shall consist of up to 6 members to serve as a parallel body to the regular operations of the International Society, providing expert consultation, guidance, and recommendations on various matters related to the International Society's activities and strategic direction. The committee's role is advisory in nature, and it is tasked with offering suggestions and insights to the governing bodies of the association, without direct involvement in decision-making or management. Members of the Advisory Committee are appointed based on their expertise and experience by the Executive Board for a term of four years, and they will meet as needed to discuss and advise on key issues facing the association.
The financial year of the International Society shall run from January 1 to December 31.
The financial resources of the International Society shall be used solely to further the purposes of the ISEG.
The Secretary General shall present an annual financial report to the General Assembly.
These Statutes may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the General Assembly, subject to compliance with relevant national and international regulations.
These Statutes shall be implemented by means of By-laws approved by the General Assembly, and through Guidelines prepared by the Board. In case of any contradiction between the provisions of Statutes, By-laws, and Guidelines, By-laws shall prevail over Guidelines, and Statutes shall prevail overall.
The ISEG is established for an indefinite period.
The ISEG can be dissolved or liquidated only by a resolution passed by at least two-thirds of voting at the General Assembly. In the event of dissolution, the assets of the ISEG shall be transferred to one or more organizations with similar purposes, as decided by the General Assembly.
